Fairy Meadows
Wake up facing the north wall of Nanga Parbat.
Few places put you this close to an eight-thousand-metre peak with so little effort. A jeep ride up a famously narrow track and a two- to three-hour walk bring you to a pine-ringed meadow with Nanga Parbat filling the sky.
Stay in log cabins, walk on to Beyal and the base-camp viewpoint, and watch the face turn pink at dawn.
