Questions, Answered
The things travellers ask us most before a trip to the north.
Planning your trip
When is the best time to visit Hunza and Skardu?
May to October is the main season. April brings blossom in Hunza, July and August are best for Deosai and Fairy Meadows, and late October is famous for autumn colours. Winter trips are possible but some high roads close.
How many days do I need?
Five to six days is comfortable for Hunza or Skardu by air. By road, allow seven to ten days to see both without rushing. Our travel desk can suggest a plan for the time you have.
Is northern Pakistan safe for tourists?
Gilgit-Baltistan is one of the most welcoming regions in the country and sees many domestic and foreign visitors each year. Our drivers and guides are local, we track road conditions daily and we only run routes we know well.
Are your tours suitable for families and older travellers?
Yes. Most of our sightseeing tours involve only short walks. Tell us about the group and we will choose hotels, pace and vehicles to suit.
Can I travel solo?
Absolutely. Join a group departure to share costs, or book a private trip with your own car and driver.
Booking & payments
How do I book?
Reserve a tour online, or send a custom trip request. We confirm availability, then you pay a 30% deposit to secure your seats. You will receive a booking number to track everything.
When is the balance due?
The remaining balance is due seven days before departure. You can check what you have paid and what is still due at any time on the Track Booking page.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer, online banking and cash at our office. We send a written receipt for every payment.
What is your cancellation policy?
It depends on how close to departure you cancel; the full scale is in our Terms & Cancellation page. If we cancel for safety reasons, you choose between new dates or a refund.
On the road
What is usually included in a package?
Accommodation, private transport with driver, breakfast and dinner, a guide and the entry tickets listed on each tour page. Every package shows exactly what is and is not included.
Do flights to Skardu and Gilgit get cancelled?
Sometimes. Mountain flights only operate in clear weather. We build in a buffer and, if needed, switch you to a private car so the trip continues.
Will I have mobile signal and internet?
Main towns such as Gilgit, Karimabad and Skardu have mobile data. Coverage is patchy or absent at Deosai, Fairy Meadows and on some high passes.
What about altitude?
Most stays are between 2,000 and 3,000 metres, which few people notice. Deosai and Khunjerab are higher; we visit them as day trips and advise going slowly and drinking plenty of water.
What should I pack?
Layers: even summer nights are cool. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a warm jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, a power bank and some cash, as card machines are rare outside towns.
Do I need permits?
Pakistani citizens need only their CNIC. Foreign visitors need a valid visa and passport; some border areas require extra paperwork, which we arrange where needed.
