About This Tour
Spantik, 7,027 m, the Golden Peak above Nagar, is one of the most accessible 7,000 m mountains in the world: a long snow ridge with no technical rock, climbed from the Chogolungma Glacier. A natural step from a first 6,000 m peak toward the 8,000ers.
Itinerary
Islamabad briefing and flight to Skardu
Permit briefing at the Alpine Club and the flight or drive north.
Skardu to Arandu
Jeep up the Shigar valley to Arandu.
Trek to base camp
Up the Chogolungma Glacier to base camp at 4,400 m.
Base camp rest and training
Acclimatisation and a rope and crampon refresher.
Acclimatisation rotations
Carry loads and sleep at Camps 1, 2 and 3, returning to base camp between rotations.
Summit window
Move up to Camp 3 and summit from there when the weather allows.
Return to Arandu
Clear the mountain and walk out.
Arandu to Skardu
Jeep to Skardu and a celebration dinner.
Departure
Flight to Islamabad and debriefing.
