About This Tour
The south side of Nanga Parbat, where the Rupal Face rises 4,600 m from the valley floor: the highest mountain wall on earth. From Tarishing in the Astore valley, walk through the Rupal villages to Herrligkoffer base camp and the Latobo meadows beneath it.
Itinerary
Gilgit to Tarishing
Drive up the Astore valley by Rama to Tarishing, the last village below the Rupal Face.
Tarishing to Herrligkoffer base camp
Cross the Tarishing Glacier and walk through Rupal village to the base camp meadow at 3,550 m.
Latobo and Shaigiri
A day up the valley to the Latobo pastures and the Shaigiri viewpoint under the face.
Base camp to Tarishing
Back down the valley to Tarishing.
Tarishing to Rama Lake
Drive to Rama and an afternoon walk to Rama Lake in the pine forest.
Departure
Drive back to Gilgit.
