Attabad Lake Guide: Boating, Passu Cones and How to Get There
How Attabad Lake formed
A landslide in January 2010 blocked the Hunza river near Attabad village and created the lake. Its turquoise water is now one of the most visited sights in Gilgit-Baltistan.
How to reach Attabad Lake
The lake is on the Karakoram Highway about 30 minutes north of Karimabad. From Gilgit it is roughly 2.5-3 hours by road.
Things to do
- Boating and jet-ski rides on the lake
- Lunch at the lakeside cafes
- Continue to Passu Cones, the Hussaini suspension bridge and Borith Lake
